R.S.V.P. Project
The R.S.V.P. Project workshops will explore the intervention of child abuse as it relates to individuals with developmental disabilities. Three presenters will focus on the criminal, preventative, and multi-disciplinary team aspects of the investigation. There will be a combination of lecture, power point and actual case footage utilized in the presentations.
Participants will:
- Learn preventative strategies for vulnerable populations.
- Gain a cognizance of the criminal process & accountability of sex offenders.
- Have a unique opportunity to experience the different perspectives from three multi-disciplinary team members.
- Gain an increased awareness of the attitudes, unique challenges and considerations in cases involving children with developmental disabilities.

Registration: There are two ways to register for the RSVP Project training. You can 1) register online using the form at the bottom of this page or 2) download the PDF version of the registration form here and return to WVCAN.
Lodging: A block of rooms has been reserved under "RSVP Project" for the August 27, 2010 training held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charleston. The deadline to reserve a room under the RSVP Project rate is August 4. All hotel costs incurred during the training are the responsibility of hotel guests, including room rates. The room rate is $139 per room.
If you would like to reserve a room, please call Embassy Suites at (304) 347-8700 and ask for the RSVP Project rate. Space is limited, so please make your reservations in advance.
Audience: Professionals seeking increased understanding in prevention, dynamics and MDIT functioning in child abuse cases with special attention to children with MR/DD.
CEU Information: LPC, Social Work, Psychology, Attorney, Law Enforcement, and DV continuing education hours are available.
